Youth councils are one way for young people to participate in decision making. Youth councils aim to give young people a voice and a way of having their views represented in the wider community.
A typical youth council covers a wide range of issues, interest or concerns of young people. These include issues which affect young people at school, at work, not in employment, in their leisure time, personal relationships and group activities, as well as their involvement in other youth organisations
To address concerns youth councils often come into contact with a broad range of organisations - local authorities, businesses, community and pressure groups, schools and so on.
