Culture

The chapters in the culture section of Kansai through Kiwi eyes show the heritage and contemporary culture of a significant regional and national centre of Japan.

The perspectives of secondary and tertiary students, recent graduates and some of the 850 Kansai resident Kiwis inform on both the small things that count and the cultural changes that keep occurring.

Initiatives to conserve Kyoto heritage buildings as well as world heritage sites throughout Kansai offer models to those interested in the restoration of marae and other conservation challenges Kiwis face.

Student exchanges, the JET programme, working holidays and internationalisation programmes as well as two way tourism all come through as great providing great opportunbiutiues for learning about about culture.
