Sione comes to New Zealand
- A Samoan migrant's story

Sione...., a social studies text book about social control and social change, was co-authored by Anthony Haas and Susan Kedgely, illustrated by Harry Dansey, with educational advice from Tom Newnham. It was published in 1971 by Whitecombe and Tombs, and is the subject of review for the use of the next generation.

Sione was a fictional character, researched in the 1960s and early 70s when self determination was important in some Pacific Islands, and multiculturalism was important to some New Zealanders.

Research in the first decade of the 21st Century into case studies that illustrate those themes will help update the ideas communicated through Sione.

To find out more, watch this space about Tokelauan, and about Tongan and Niuean self determination, about the Pacfic Islands Forum Pacific Plan from a citizenship education perspective and about Europe and development policies impacting Pacific citizens.
