John Key, elected New Zealand Prime Minister in November 2008, had been earlier elected leader of the NZ National Party, succeeding Dr Don Brash. Find out more about National MPs in the 48th Parliament.

The National Party was founded on principles of individual responsibility, private enterprise, and reward for individual effort. These principles are the only sure path to a society of personal freedom and rising standards of living for all, it says.
